The Tamil Nadu Forest Department established the Tamil Nadu State Forest Fire Control Centre (TNSFFCC) under the NABARD Scheme in April 2024 to ensure the rapid flow of information and effective coordination during forest fire emergencies. The Centre functions as the State-level command and control hub for all District Forest Fire Control Centres and coordinates with nationalised organisations, including the Forest Survey of India, and State authorities on forest fire management.

TNSFFCC receives real-time forest fire alerts from national and international satellite platforms and integrates this information with the State Forest GIS database. The analysed data is promptly disseminated to concerned districts and forest divisions to guide timely field response. The Centre also supports burnt area assessment, fire vulnerability analysis, and identification of fire-sensitive forest beats to strengthen overall forest fire management across the State. The centre falls under the Control of Protection and Vigilance Wing and IT wing .
