Forests in Tamil Nadu are administered by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Department) in the I.F.S. cadre, assisted by 13 PCCFs, 10 APCCFs,9 CCFs, 13 CFs ,  DCFs, 50.  Moreover, 110 officers of State Forest Service and 33 officers in Tamil Nadu General Service also assist the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Department) in the administration.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Research & Education) : Incharge of all research, education and training programmes
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Project Tiger) : Assist the Chief Wildlife Warden in all activities in Tiger Reserves of Tamil Nadu
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Biodiversity) and Member-Secretary, Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board   Incharge of Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board, Chennai.
